The date chosen for Wednesday’s dedication ceremony for a Sugar Land monument to honor Gold Star families was no accident.

Sugar Land City Council members, members of the Sugar Land Legacy Foundation and veterans were among the attendees of a March 29 ribbon cutting for Phase 2 of the Sugar Land Memorial Park Eagle Plaza.

On May 27, 2021, the Sugar Land Legacy Foundation, in conjunction with the City of Sugar Land, announced Sugar Land Memorial Hermann Hospital as the winner of the 2021 ‘Sugar Land Strong’ Community Award.

After a $5,000 donation from the Sugar Land Legacy Foundation, Sugar Land’s City Park will be home to a freedom swing, or a swing designed to be accessible to all children—despite potential differences in abilities.

Personalized brick pavers lie within the Honor and Remember Flag Plaza adjacent to the current Veterans Memorial at Sugar Land Memorial Park. The Sugar Land Legacy Foundation is selling the “Honor or Remember” pavers as a way for individuals to salute military veterans.

Sugar Land, TX - The City of Sugar Land recently opened its first universally accessible playground at First Colony Athletic Park. A ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 3 included City officials, the Sugar Land Legacy Foundation, and members of the Dream League. This unique playground serves as a place where all children can play together and foster friendships in a welcoming and safe environment.

The Sugar Land Parks and Recreation Department worked with the Gali family and the Sugar Land Legacy Foundation to make new skate ramps in honor of Arjun Gali at City Park a reality.

Sugar Land, TX - Sugar Land City Council recently accepted a $200,000 donation toward the construction of the City’s first universally accessible playground Project at First Colony Park. The funding was raised through a capital campaign launched by the Sugar Land Legacy Foundation, a non-profit community group that works with individuals, corporations, trusts and others interested in making charitable, tax-deductible donations to support activities and capital projects that benefit residents of Sugar Land.

Six bronze sculptures created and generously donated by Samuel Levin, a Sugar Land resident, were recently accepted by the City of Sugar Land and the Sugar Land Legacy Foundation.

The Veterans Memorial at Sugar Land Memorial Park will be the focal point of the City of Sugar Land’s 6th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony on May 26. The Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) donated the memorial last September through the Sugar Land Legacy Foundation. The memorial honors local veterans who have died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Sugar Land, TX - A new memorial honoring local veterans was unveiled at Sugar Land Memorial Park on Sept. 30.

Sugar Land recently completed the expansion of Eldridge Park Trail, a project supported with a $15,000 Great American Trails grant from the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and the Darden Foundation.
